Long Lasting
I guess it is time to review this thing. I got mine in 2007. I’m about to buy another. The Gram/Oz button eventually got really finicky, and I lost the back battery plate. Technically, I don’t need to replace it, but that finicky button drives me mad. But come on, it’s been with me 18 years! Essential for meal prep and baking, I also use it for soap making. Not that great if you need to measure 4g of salt, or 2g of baking soda, it can fluctuate a little bit. It’s a great size, fits in the back of my silverware drawer. Very light weight. Easy to read display. I really can’t complain. It also doesn’t drain batteries that much as it auto-shuts off. I think I’ve changed the batteries maybe twice?

I have this for a few months. I purchased this model based on the review and recommendation in Consumer Reports. It is very accurate even measuring just one gram. So great for measuring even very small amounts. When I first opened the package, i was disappointed because it looked really tiny, compared to my older one. But amazingly, the structure is such that I have no problem measuring vegetables which are 1-2 lbs. Most of the time i am able to place vegetables on the weighing plate and still easily able to visualize the display.

My new Escali digital food scale is wonderful. It measures every type of kitchen prep needed, in grams or ounces. So no more guessing for me. I put the batteries in, and the screen lit up. Just used it this morning for my baking needs. And I took a picture of the weight of a canning seal, just as an example.Very pleased, and highly recommended.

It does not have any fancy usability features (no lit display, no support for large tare), but it also has a price tag that reflects as much. The scale should really be good enough for the vast majority of users. A couple of downsides for me were the absence of the fraction of a gram, which is not a huge deal and the fact that the platform may be not large enough to fit the tare on some rare occasions. Overall – a very good budget scale, recommended for common use scenarios.

The scale is quite small and compact, and very light in weight.Even with the given seemingly small form factor, when something is placed in a bowl, it’s very easy to read the display and the bowl does not obstruct the view.When a placeholder for the item to be weighted is placed on the scale and left button pressed, “tare” appears on the screen.The anti-slip nobs on the bottom do quite a good job of holding the scale in place on a kitchen countertop and prevents it from sliding around.On the improvement part it might have been nice to have backlight in the scale screen and the button tactile feedback and sound is kind of plastic-ish, which slightly ruins the first positive impression. However that does not take away from the overall quality and intuitive usage.

An excellent kitchen scale that doesn’t use those tiny little lithium batteries but regular one that are much better in terms of price and battery life. Made of plastic but feels high quality and has an excellent weight sensor in it.Highly recommend if you are looking for a reliable and high quality scale that won’t break the bank.
