I’m a watch person, I’ve seen and own a few so I’m not easily impressed but this is an amazing watch. I’ve replaced the band to a silicone with more grip.

Excellent watch, for indoor and outdoor use. Functionalities very useful in mountain activities, hiking and mountain biking.
In the gym it is an excellent monitor.

Screen hard to see at night set on high.
The screen is hard to see in dark or light conditions using prescription eyeglasses. Customization is for the owner of the smartwatch not for the developer, Polar. If I want to see the display bright then let me run the battery down fast with real brightness. The information provided in the Flow apps on mobile and PC outweighs the brightness deficiency a little. The software is catching data I only dreamt about reading. This is my second $600 dollar Polar training watch. My first Polar training watch was bought 15 years ago and changed my life for the better. It’s the software that measures everything that counts.

Screen is sapphire sturdy (pro) but so dim it’s defective (major con)
I have had a Polar Ignite ($205) since 2019. Great for steady state cardio and matches beat for beat with my chest strap. Screen has always on during workouts, which is bright and vibrant even for old man eyes. I also like the software, which keeps a diary and has sleep data that is on par with my Oura watch.
Only thing I don’t like is that it’s not an always on screen and wrist based gesture is both inconvenient and delayed. I want to throw it out the window after an hour of regular watch duties. So I was looking for “one watch to rule them all.” Sleep data, fitness data and diary, and a good o’l wear to work watch that is durable.
2022 and all the companies have “always on” and sapphire durability. Garmin has supply chain issues and it’s $1000. Ok, how about my best friend Polar? I look at a bunch of reviews and figured, almost half the price, so yea. I wanted to like it!
It last a couple days before needing charge and that is only a couple hours. It’s light enough to sleep with. Not Ignite light, but still OK. Always on display that I can see… just barely. So now I’m on my indoor bike and very frustrated that I can only see if I let go of the handlebars and hold my arm up at a particular angle. And just barely (on the highest setting). I can’t believe this product made it out of the design lab and across the desk of the CEO to retail.
Like I said, I wanted to like it but after two days I decided I’d rather use my 3 year old watch because it’s
comparatively vibrant and a joy to look at. It takes a lot to get me so frustrated that I’d return something but this is a design mistake. Down right defective, in my opinion.

El reloj en cuestión presenta una deficiencia notable en uno de los aspectos más fundamentales de su diseño: la pantalla. La iluminación es tan baja que resulta extremadamente difÃcil leerla, particularmente en condiciones de poca luz. Este problema se agrava debido a la falta de una opción para ajustar el brillo de manera manual, dejando al usuario sin alternativas para mejorar la experiencia.
La baja visibilidad tiene un impacto negativo directo en la usabilidad diaria del reloj. Aunque el diseño o las funcionalidades adicionales puedan ser atractivos, la dificultad para leer la pantalla en diferentes entornos resta valor al producto de forma significativa. En un dispositivo de este tipo, la legibilidad deberÃa ser una prioridad.
Por otro lado, el precio del reloj no parece estar alineado con la calidad ofrecida. En el mercado existen opciones más económicas que no presentan este tipo de inconvenientes. Esto plantea dudas sobre si el reloj realmente justifica su costo, considerando que otros productos en la misma categorÃa ofrecen mejores prestaciones en términos de funcionalidad básica.
En resumen, para que este reloj pueda cumplir con las expectativas de los usuarios y justificar su precio, serÃa esencial mejorar la visibilidad de la pantalla y permitir ajustes de brillo. Hasta entonces, es difÃcil recomendarlo, especialmente para aquellos que buscan un reloj práctico y confiable para el uso cotidiano.

watch stopped and no customer service
I bought my Polar Grit X in October 2022. I used it to train across multiple sports. The watch worked through last summer and started acting up in Fall 2023. I thought it was just user error but then it got worse. I followed the Polar guidance to try to assess and manage the problem. Nothing worked and now the watch will not charge or stay on long enough to do anything else. I tried the chat function on the website and no one responded. I tried email and they said expect long delays and I heard nothing. I tried the phone number online (the US one is a different company), the phone number is incorrect. This watch is cheaper but not worth it! Go buy that Garmin!
